Shaken, not stirred . . .

Apparently ex-presidents aren't the only ones who stick together in times of crisis. Roger Moore has come to the rescue of Daniel Craig - the latest actor to carry the 007 moniker.

Former 007 Defends Daniel Craig

TORONTO - It took an old Bond to come to the rescue of the new Bond.
Roger Moore, who played Agent 007 in seven of the James Bond movies, said critics of the film franchise's new star, Daniel Craig, should give him a chance.

"He's a helluva good actor," said Moore, 78, noting that critics haven't even seen Craig in the role yet. "So why attack him?"

The fair-haired Craig, whose recent screen credits include "Munich" and "The Jacket," was tapped last October to play the secret-agent icon in "Casino Royale."

A group of Bond fans have launched a Web site (http://www.craignotbond.com ) to protest the hiring of Craig and boycott the upcoming movie.

Moore, whose Bond films include "A View to Kill," "Moonraker" and "Live and Let Die," suggested the group was merely trying to attract people to their Web site.

"The Way means inducing the people to have the same aim as leadership so that they will share death and share life without fear of danger. The way means humaneness and justice. In ancient times a famous minister of state asked a political philosopher about military matters. The philosopher said humaneness and justice are the means by which to rule properly. When government is carried out properly the people will feel close to leadership and think little of dying for it."

'Shock' at new Bond plot

Apparently the choice for James Bond isn't the only shocking thing about the new Bond film.

The family of a Brazilian man shot dead after being mistaken for a terrorist are "shocked" that his killing is to be reportedly mirrored in the plot of the next James Bond blockbuster

Jean Charles de Menezes, 27, was killed in a police operation at Stockwell Underground station in London last July.

His relatives, who live in Brazil, are said to be "shocked" that his death could be "glamorised" by the new 007 film, Casino Royale, out later this year.

According to reports, a leaked script reveals that Bond kills an unarmed bomb suspect, only to find it was the wrong man.

Bond, played by Daniel Craig, 37, tries to clear his name after CCTV footage of the death is broadcast worldwide.

It is not clear if the shooting storyline will be in the film.

Art imitating life? Or Hollywood being so devoid of creativity that they have to get all of their ideas from CNN?

I always felt like James Bond was a Cold War icon that should have stayed in the Cold War time frame. Chasing Russians and East Germans across the Berlin Wall was the real deal for Bond. As soon as they had James Bond in New Orleans fighting a "Mr. Big" blaxploitation bad guy and dodging the "Buford"-style Southern sheriff . . . it was the beginning of the end. Space Marines, anyone?

There was some good elements in the last Bond film - James Bond getting captured by North Koreans - but then it went back to the old meglomaniac with a ton of money getting loony and wanting more money, power, etc. - while hiding in a huge, very obvious, and very bomb-able base.

If any of these blokes existed in real life, a SEAL team would have smoked them a long time ago.
Oh wait a minute . . .

Paintball this weekend - Sunday, February 12

We are playing this Sunday, February 12th in Dripping Springs. We'll be starting out there at 3pm, so be ready to roll by that time. I am planning on getting out a little early to set-up the chrony and the rest of it.

We are going to be having a full schedule of games and will also be playing a pistol-only game as well. Don't worry if you don't have a pistol, I'll be bringing out some extras. Please let me know if you are going to need one, so I can make sure to bring enough. The preference is for a pump or limited semi-auto (like a rapide), so keep that in mind.

Just as a reminder, we'll be playing with the Leander group on Saturday the 18th and will be having our next game on Feb. 26th. In March, we'll go back to playing the first and third weekend of the month
Finally! A clip-fed paintball pistol

I was checking out the What's New section at Specialopspaintball.com and found this:

It is the new Tyberius Arms paintball pistol and it looks to be loaded from a clip - as evidenced by the picture above. I haven't heard of anyone using one and unfortunately they are out of stock, but whew-ee that thar looks like a beaut.
